GM would like us to believe that these are all-new models, but essentially this is just a mid-cycle freshening of Europe's best-selling mid-size sedan. (See, GM can beat the Japanese). The Vectra and longer-wheelbase Signum gain fresh front-end styling, updated interiors with higher-grade materials, and improved chassis tuning--Opel's adaptive electronic damping is now available among more models. There is a new top-line 227-hp, turbocharged 2.8-liter V-6 engine, rounding out a line of five gasoline engines, while the most powerful diesel powerplant is a 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 181 hp and a whopping 295 pound-feet of torque. The next generation of these cars will appear in the U.S. as the Saturn Aura.
