First Look: 2011 Chrysler 300

Chrysler has been showing off its expansive range of revised 2011 models over the past several months, but one -- the 2011 Chrysler 300 model -- remained somewhat under wraps. That no longer seems to be the case, however, as the automaker released a handful of photos detailing its new flagship.

Chrysler vowed to revamp its entire lineup with new sheetmetal and amenitable interiors or 2011, and the new 300 abides by that pledge. As previously seen in earlier spy photographs, the car’s entire front clip has been redesigned to incorporate a new grille, slick projector-style headlamps with LED parking lights, and additional chrome accents. A shapelier decklid and bumper fascia help spruce up the 300′s rear, while restyled taillights are illuminated with LEDs.

Underneath the skin, the 300 will remain similar to the outgoing model, but engineers have incorporated a number of revisions. Arguably, the biggest news lies with powertrain -- the 5.7-liter V-8 remains an option, but the company’s new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 replaces two previous six-cylinder offerings. The sole transmission offering remains a five-speed automatic, but further down the line, the new 300 will be available with a ZF-licensed eight-speed gearbox.

Look for the 2011 300 to make its first public appearance at the 2011 Detroit auto show in early January. Early production models are expected to roll off the assembly line in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, early next year, and roll into dealer lots within the first quarter of 2011.

This will never sell in the same numbers ass the original. this has no style, flair or any imagination put into it. The new Charger is HOT. now that model needs a two door version. And Chrysler corp. needs to stop playing sround and offer a Domestic ricer to go after the import market it briefly captured with the Neon SRT.
