2008 Scion xB Release Series 5.0

David Yochum

Like a teenager, the more the Scion xB grows, the flashier it wants to dress.

Inspired by last year's customized Chicago Auto Show vehicle, the 2008 Detroit Auto Show showcases Scion's signature box with Gold Rush Mica paint and a KenStyle body kit as part of a limited-edition, Release Series 5.0 model. While the gold paint also accents interior vents, gauges, and controls, Tokyo-based KenStyle's bumper scoops spice up the xB's front and rear. Individually numbered badging, special wheel covers, and a moonroof - an xB first - complete the cube's new look.

Unfortunately, the xB's 158-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed transmission (an automatic is optional) didn't develop with the rest of the car's body. They continue unchanged.
