2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6-R Race Car

Top Front Side View

The Chevrolet Corvette C5-R won every race of the 2004 season. In the car's five years of existence, the team has won 35 of 55 races, including four American Le Mans Championships and three double victories in the 24 hours of Le Mans. It is no surprise, then, that the C6-R will be sticking to the basic structure of its predecessor.

When it debuts at the 12 hours of Sebring in March, the new racing Vette will sport the same muscular 7.0-liter V-8, the same (but improved) structure, and the same team of drivers. But with an undefeated season behind them, why should team Corvette change? However, one question remains to be answered: Will the more sculpted lines and longer wheelbase of the C6 hurt it or help it on the track? We'll find out in March, but for now, let's just enjoy its beauty.
