The most important Mitsubishi at SEMA was undoubtedly the Evolander Concept. The name is half Evo, half Outlander, and that's exactly what this is--the Evolander is an Outlander SUV with performance elements and design cues inspired by the hot Lancer Evo compact.

The Outlander's 3.0-liter V-6 gets an 80-horsepower boost to 300 with the help of a supercharger that produces 6 psi of boost. Power is sent to all four wheels through Mitsubishi's six-speed manu-matic, which uses ultra-cool magnesium-alloy paddle shifters. Passengers playing with those shifter paddles are treated to gorgeous Recaro sport bucket seats.

The Evolander rides on twenty-inch OZ wheels that house oversized, cross-drilled rotors and Brembo six-piston calipers up front. Taking a cue from the Lancer Evo, the front of the Evolander is filled with enormous cooling and brake ducts, and a vented hood. More aggressive side sills, fender vents, a rear diffuser, and a Ralliart rear spoiler combine with fender flares to put more S in this SUV's looks.

Just like the Galant Ralliart that premiered two years ago at SEMA, we're expecting--and looking forward to--a production version of this SUV.
