Take a pile of bargain Renault and Nissan parts, a workforce of cheap Romanian labor, put them together, and you will get the Dacia Logan, built by French automaker Renault. The $6000 sedan could be viewed as the modern Model T; it provides affordable transportation to those who have never had cars before. The Logan is currently being built and sold only in Romania, but plants are expected to open in Russia, Iran, Morocco, Columbia, and China, and sales in Western Europe are imminent. Diesel and wagon versions of the sedan are also expected some time in the near future.
