The 2013 Infiniti FX37 is a crossover SUV that provides a sporty ride and a long list of standard features. With all the high-tech gadgets, it might require something of a learning curve, but in the end, the FX37 performs extremely well and provides extremely impressive luxury on the interior.
New For 2013
Besides the new engine for FX37 models, Moving Object Detection is added to the Around View monitor. Iridium blue paint is now available on all models except the Limited Edition, which is only available in moonlight white. The Java interior color is now available with liquid platinum and graphite shadow exterior colors.
Exterior
The exterior of the Infiniti FX37 comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, foglights, automated xenon headlights, and a power liftgate. Color options include eight standard paint jobs, all of which are rather neutral. All models feature a sunroof, privacy glass, and a rear windshield wiper. Also standard fare is power-folding heated exterior mirrors and a backup camera. The options for the premium package include aluminum roof rails, front and rear parking sensors, and the availability of a Deluxe Touring addition. The Deluxe Touring package adds 20-inch alloy wheels to the exterior. There is also a technology package which adds automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers and adaptive headlights to the exterior. Other individual options include roof rails and a stainless steel rear bumper protector.
For the FX37 Limited Edition, there is exclusive paint jobs, 21-inch alloy wheels, and tinted and adaptive xenon headlights. Roof rack is standard for the Limited, and so is a rear spoiler, which isn't especially attractive. There are no optional packages for the Limited Edition. Overall, the exterior design is extremely attractive. It has smooth lines and cuts, and with the neutral paint colors, it appears executive style and classy. It turns head without being extremely obnoxious.
Interior & Cargo
The interior of the 2013 Infiniti FX37 features leather upholstery with five options, which includes graphite, graphite premium, java premium, wheat, and wheat premium. While standard leather is very nice, the premium leather is especially soft and durable. The FX37 also features very distinct wood trim, metal accents, and soft surfaces abound. The interior couldn't get much better in terms of quality. The front seats have plenty of headroom and legroom, but unfortunately, the rear seats may be a bit short for taller passengers. Cargo space is 25 cubic feet with seats in place, and only 62 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. This amount of cargo space is well below the competitions.
The FX37 comes standard with eight-way powered driver and passenger seats, multi-level heating in the front seats, and reclining rear seats for optimum comfort. Powers, mirrors, and locks are all powered, and mirrors are heated. Other standard fare includes cruise control, dual automatic climate control, air filtration, and a rear view camera system. The standard audio system is a Bose brand 11-speaker AM/FM/CD radio with MP3 playback and an auxiliary jack for iPod integration and other devices. Available options include dual DVD headrest monitors for rear seat entertainment.
The FX37 Limited adds a 360 degree camera system and memorization system for up to two drivers. The audio system gets the addition of a DVD player and a video monitor. Overall, the interior is loaded down with technology and entertainment, and with the addition of cameras, it makes for a safe drive.
Safety
The 2013 Infiniti FX37 comes with front, side, and side curtain airbags. Also standard is a passenger detection system that only deploys the passenger airbag should a passenger actually be present. Anti-lock brakes work with electronic brake force distribution, emergency braking assist technology, and traction and stability control for excellent handling. Also standard are a lane-departure warning system, turn signal mirrors, and distance-control assist technology. The base model receives a standard backup rearview camera while the limited model features an impressive all-sides camera system.
Other standard safety fare includes daytime running lights, dusk sensing technology, and fog lights. The Limited Edition model receives self-leveling headlamps, which make sure that the lighting is pointed in the right direction. Both models feature turn signal mirrors and an anti-theft alarm system.
During crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2013 Infiniti FX37 receives an impressive perfect score of ""Good"" across the board. Overall, the Infiniti is an extremely save vehicle, especially for an SUV that acts as much like a sports car as it does an SUV.
Driving Experience
The 2013 Infiniti FX37 comes standard with a 3.7-liter, V-6 engine that produces 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The only available transmission is a seven-speed shiftable automatic, and rear-wheel drive is standard. An all-wheel drive system is available and is adjusted to make sure that the FX37 remains sporty on the road regardless of all-wheel drive. The FX37 can reach zero to 60 in about 6.6 seconds, which is extremely fast for the class.
The fuel economy for the FX37 is estimated at 17/24 mpg city/highway for rear-wheel drive models and drops to 16/22 mpg city/highway for the all-wheel drive models. Both models handle extremely well with responsive handling, great use of the power under the hood, and great off-road capabilities. The ride is a bit stiff on the highway, but keeping the smaller wheel options helps to keep this minimal. Overall, the 2013 Infiniti FX37 is extremely sporty for an SUV.
