2013 Chrysler 300 S

A new Glacier Package pairs many of the interior and exterior cosmetic touches from the 300S with the traction of all-wheel drive. Leather seating is now standard in the base 300 model, and the optional navigation system gains revised map graphics from Garmin.

The 2013 Chrysler 300 has approximately a 199-inch length, 75-inch width, 58-inch height, 120-inch wheelbase, and 4000-pound curb weight. Its size gives it a strong presence on the road. It has a smooth design that is both classy and attractive. In front, a well-sculpted long hood with lots of fancy grooves blends into a large chrome grille, sided by a pair of large headlamps with chrome trims. Down below are its attractive daytime running lights setup on the side of its air dam. A side view portrays large doors, small, nicely-shaped windows, and 17-, 18-, 19-, or 20-inch wheels. From the rear, its dual exhaust stands out from down below. As your eyes inch up the vehicle, you’ll notice a body-colored bumper, standard taillights, and the Chrysler logo. Optional features, which modestly increase visual appeal, include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

The interior of the 2013 Chrysler 300 is full of luxurious qualities. To begin, all models are fitted with premium leather, resulting in a supremely comfortable experience. In front, there is a pair of bucket seats, divided by a console on the floor that contains plenty of room for storing small items. The dash is blessed with sensible gauges for clear readability and conveniently located controls for easy use. In the rear, there is a 60/40-split bench seat that fits three people. Cargo space is plentiful, thanks to a large trunk that measures over 16 cubic feet.

The features of the 300 are numerous and delightful. Besides a vast amount of leather, heated seats bring comfort during cold weather months. Chrysler does not skimp on technological gear. A large 8.4-inch touchscreen interface display has controls for audio and navigation, along with voice activation that enables users to send text messages hands-free.

The 2013 Chrysler 300 was given the title of ""Top Safety Pick"" by the IIHS, in response to its high crash test ratings in front, rear, side, and rollover accidents. It is equipped with anti-lock brakes on all four wheels, along with emergency brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. It has stability and traction control for improved handling on slippery road conditions. There are driver and front passenger front-impact airbags to provide protection to passengers in the front seat. Side-impact airbags protect all passengers. Overhead airbags are installed in order to protect occupants during rollovers and side collisions. Front seats have height-adjustable head restraints, while rear seats have integrated headrests. Rear seats also have child seat anchors to assist people in carrying around their little ones. Seatbelts have pre-tensioners that automatically tighten to help restrain passengers in the event of an accident. Rear doors are constructed with child safety locks to prevent unwanted exit of the vehicle.

The 2013 Chrysler 300 is offered with a choice of many different powertrains, depending on the model. First of all, each model can be either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Then, four different powerful engines are available. Under the hood of the base model, there is a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 292 horsepower (hp) and 260 lb-ft of torque. Optional is a 5.7-liter V-8 that pumps out 363 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. The 300S carries a V-6 that spits out 300 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. The STR8 is packed with a monstrous, 6.4-liter, V-8 that cranks out 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration is brisk, allowing for easy cruising on the highway and quick bursts in city driving. Base models are capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in less than seven seconds. STR8 models have a zero-to-60 acceleration rate of less than five seconds. Average fuel economy ranges from 14-19/23-31 mpg city/highway.

On the road, the 300 is a lovely car to operate. It is built with an independent wishbone front suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs teamed with an independent multi-link rear suspension with a stabilizer bar and coil springs. As a result, driving on smooth surfaces is like gliding on air and small bumps and grooves in the road are soaked up like a sponge. Handling is agile and steering is responsive, allowing for graceful maneuvering in traffic. Brakes are firm and strong. All-wheel-drive models are able to handle snowy conditions majestically.
