2012 Ford Expedition XLT EL SUV

The Ford Expedition hasn't seen any major changes in the last several years, but for buyers who need a lot of space and utility, this large SUV is a viable option. Available in four Trim Levels, the Expedition can be had in either regular or extended-length (EL) versions and with rear- or four-wheel drive. The EL is 14.8 inches longer than the regular Expedition and offers even more cargo-carrying capacity -- up to 130.8 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded flat. The Expedition's tried-and-true 310-hp, 5.4-liter V-8 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and is capable of running on E85 fuel. The Expedition handles better than you might think a large SUV would thanks to its independent rear suspension, which helps to smooth out rough surfaces. There are lots of options available, including the Sync multimedia system, which allows the driver to use voice commands to control Bluetooth-enabled phones, digital media players, the navigation system, and more. Another useful feature is MyKey, an optional programmable key system that allows parents to limit top speed and stereo volume, among other parameters, when their teenage children are driving. Standard equipment includes trailer-sway control, a capless fuel-filling system, keyless entry, Sirius satellite radio, and a 40/20/40-split second-row bench. Full-size-SUV sales are up a little this year, but there should still be room for negotiation if you're in the market for an Expedition.
