2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Crew Passenger Van

2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Review

(0 Stars)  The minivan that started it all.

Reviewed by Automotive on

Overview
Other manufacturers have quit the segment, but the Grand Caravan will stay around for at least another two years, when it is slated to be replaced by a crossover. Last year, Dodge brought out a face-lifted Grand Caravan with a standard 3.6-liter flex-fuel 283-hp V-6, making it the most powerful minivan on the market. For 2012, Dodge aims to make the Grand Caravan the most affordable minivan as well, with the American Value Package model that gives the seven-passenger vehicle a starting price of less than $22,000. The Grand Caravan comes with power windows, locks, and mirrors; air-conditioning; antilock brakes; electronic stability control; seven air bags; second-row Stow 'n Go seating; second- and third-row Stow 'n Go storage; remote keyless entry; and cruise control. The SXT model includes dual power-sliding doors, a power liftgate, and power-adjustable pedals. The Crew adds features like seventeen-inch aluminum wheels, chrome exterior accents, a 6.5-inch touch-screen media center, a backup camera, an eight-way power driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Grand Caravan is a family machine, not an enthusiast's dream, but there is a sportier R/T model available. It has a black leather interior with red accent stitching, nine speakers with an amplifier and subwoofer, and a suspension with retuned shocks and higher spring rates. All of this means that the Grand Caravan is determined to take a back seat to no other people mover.
