2011 Mazda Mazda2 Sport

2011 Mazda Mazda2 Review

 (3 Stars)  Cheap, stylish transportation

Reviewed by Automotive on

Overview
After being a overseas only model for several years, the Mazda 2 has finally come to US shores. Proven on the world stage, this subcompact offers its American customers a fair combination of versatility and comfort in a fuel efficient package, wrapped in some ultra modern, slightly odd, styling.

The 2 and the Ford Fiesta have the same chassis, though the two differ greatly in all other respects. The 2 features a surprisingly large cabin for such a small car and it features lots of the small cargo areas and cup holders that we love in America.

A 1.5 liter, four cylinder engine that produces 100 hp drives the front wheels and allows the car to achieve EPA fuel economy estimates of 28 miles per gallon city and 35 miles per gallon highway when using the 5 speed manual transmission. The cars 2300 lb. curb weight help the 2 to make the most of the power available. Mazda hopes this be a winning combination for buyers who are seeking an inexpensive vehicle that is still comfortable to spend time in and fuel efficient to boot.
