This big SUV comes in either 2WD or 4WD depending on which package you opt for and has a big towing ability of up to 9,600.
The new Yukon is shipping with the standard 6 speed automatic and you can choose from the 325 or 376 horsepower V-8. What's New
The 2011 GMC Yukon full-size SUV is mostly a carryover from last year's model that features the base Yukon and the extended wheelbase XL. Opt for the Denali trim and you'll get more expressive sheetmetal and interior appointments, and you can grab the Hybrid if you want the extra mileage. For 2011 all Yukons get OnStar version 9.0 and two new colors, Mocha Steel Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic, are available.
Exterior
The Yukon screams traditional SUV, with GMC's bold front end (Denali models get the chrome honeycomb grille and monochromatic trim) a commanding, high-riding profile, aggressive fender flares and a large greenhouse. Aluminum rims from 17 to 20 inches are available (22-inchers can also be had) and further augment the package.
Interior
Every Yukon has three rows standard and depending upon configuration you could conceivably seat up to nine passengers. The Yukon's power fold-and-tumble second row seats aid third row access. The Yukon also has a multitude of standard and optional comfort and entertainment amenities, which are ramped-up further if you opt for the Denali trim level.
Performance & Handling
The 2011 Yukon comes standard with a 5.3-liter V-8, wikth both a 6.0-liter and 6.2-liter V-8s also available. All models are mated to a version of GM's solid Hydra-Matic six-speed transmission. The Yukon's fully-boxed frame setup employs a coil-over-shock front design and a rack-and-pinion steering setup. The five-link rear suspension can be augmented with GM's Autoride real-time damping system (standard on Denali), featuring electronically controlled shocks designed to automatically adjust to changing road conditions.
Safety
All Yukon models come with an array of safety technologies including a host of airbags that feature head curtains for all rows. The Yukon's front-seat belt pretensioners are linked to the vehicle's sensing system and are designed to reduce the effects of rear-end impacts. GM's StabiliTrak stability control system with traction control is standard, and four-wheel discs with ABS slow the Yukon down.
