The Passat has been bringing a lot of value to the midsized sedan family for many years, the 2010 model is no different, but does have a whole new look that will keep heads turning. The Passat can be purchased in both sedan and wagon body styles depending on your taste. This year's model no longer offers a V-6 option, the only engine being offered in the 2010 Passat is the Inline four cylinder engine that doess offer plenty of power to make the Passat zippy and definitely not underpowered. The Passat does offer a 6 speed transmission in automatic or manual versions this year. For those looking for more traction control, there is an optional all wheel drive version available.
The standard options that come with every Passat are very impressive and include a sunroof, heated seats, satellite radio, Bluetooth features and big 17 inch rims. This may be part of the reason that it carries a rather high starting price. The Passat does offer some solid fuel economy with its 31 mpg on the highway which will be appreciated by any driver.

What's New

Exterior
Stylish without being superfluous, both the Passat sedan and wagon feature classic Teutonic design. LED taillights and mirror-mounted turn signals are a modern touch, as do the standard multi-spoke Le Mans 17-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
The Passat's cabin is an impressive blend of modern high-quality materials, while the standard stereo with touchscreen controls offers impressive sound. Still, cargo space isn't tremendous, and rear seat room is good, if not outstanding.
Performance & Handling
With its 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine matched to the DSG gearbox, the 2010 Passat has enough pep to make it feel sporty, if not downright fast. The Passat is well planted around turns and its suspension is stiffer than the average midsizer, making it feel more taut and nimble than many other players in this market. Road noise is slightly higher than average, however.
Safety
Front, side curtain and side thorax airbags are standard for the driver and front passenger; side thorax airbags are optional for rear passengers. Head curtain airbags standard front and rear. Traction and stability control are also standard equipment.
