The only change for the 2013 CL-class is a new Grand Edition Package that adds AMG fascias, twenty-inch wheels, and a choice of three paints and three interiors from Designo, Mercedes’ personalization arm.

The horsepower ultimately rises to 621 and the torque to 738 lb-ft on the highest level CL65 AMG, powered by a handcrafted, AMG, 6.0-liter, bi-turbo V-12. The smaller performance CL600 also comes standard with a V-12, but at this level of power, the acceleration difference between any of these models can hardly be felt: they reach 60 mph from zero in 4.2-4.6 seconds.

Overall, this sporty coupe’s handling is remarkable, especially given its size, and even the base V-8 engine is powerful enough for the CL to keep up with sports cars on winding back roads. Wherever those roads might go, all models of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL will get there fast and in exquisite comfort, offering a thoroughly liberating feeling.
